AMAZON TO BUY OUT BARNES AND NOBLE???


What’s going on?
If this is true, is it good news for ebooks or for print? Or for both?

    Encouraging? Discouraging? I think e-books could, and maybe are, potentially a good thing for print books sales. Dying out? Nah. I think there will always be print books, at least for the next twenty years or so.

    I recently bought a phone that has a Kindle on it. This means I can read e-books all I want! Yay! Some I have paid for (9.00 for a book that sells for 18.00 in the stores). Others were available for free! I have downloaded a few romances, a few mysteries, and a few christian romances all for free. The nice thing about this is that I always have my cell phone on me. So even if I'm waiting in line somewhere or waiting in the car while someone runs into the store, I ALWAYS have a bookwith me to read! I'm loving it so far!

    Though I can admit to the convenience of having a book so readily available--on a cell phone, no less--I hope that the future of print books is long. Many of us love the heft, the fragrance of the paper and ink, and the turning of the pages to mark our progress toward "The End."

    I do, however, think that an e-reader would be a blessing to college students, if all their textbooks could be on one small gadget. Having been an English major who still suffers the consequences of lugging around two very heavy book bags every day for 4-1/2 years, I definitely see the advantages there.

    Nonetheless, I say, "Long live the REAL book!"
