TWO GIVEAWAYS!

Two Giveaways!

I’ve been invited to be part of a blog hop by Normandie Fischer, fellow author and Executive Editor, Wayside Press, an imprint of Written World Communications: http://writingonboard.com/ Normandie has two novels that will be debuting this year! Becalmed and Sailing Out of Darkness! I’ve read both and they are WINNERS! Look for Sailing in 2013 and Becalmed in spring of 2013. And

SPEAKING OF BECALMED! Let’s have a book giveaway.

If you are the tenth person to leave a comment here, I’ll pre-order Becalmed for you from Amazon!!!!!

In the meantime, here’s a list of the questions I was asked to answer for my upcoming books, With Eyes of Love from Heartsong, April 2013, and Always, Abby, May 2013

1. What is the working title of your book or project?

With Eyes of Love and Always, Abby. WWII romance with an edge.

2. Where did the idea come from for the book or project?

I wanted to tell the story of the friendship of my aunt and my mom. They were sisters-in-law that were closer than sisters. And they had wonderful lives. My mom’s dad was an engineer, and she and the family followed him around the country as he built roads. They had so many strange things happen and one was being stranded in Tennessee and having to stay with the mayor’s family during Christmas. Mom was little then, but I aged her a tad and added the handsome mayor’s son and sister. So, while it’s totally fiction, it has some family legend included.

3. What genre does it fall under, if any?

Oh, both books are historic fiction-WWII. And I like to think it’s not your plain historic romance. I added some deeper, often darker issues of the war, while maintaining a true purist romance. The families are joined by the relationships of the children, and I won’t say more as I don’t want to give anything away.

4. If applicable, who would you choose to play your characters in a movie?
Way too hard. But here's the original foursome.

5. What is the one-sentence synopsis of your manuscript or project?

Being drawn to each other as teens, Jackson Judge and Barbara Richardson are thrown together once again when Jackson’s sister is married two years later, but Barbara finds a much different man, a man who survived Pearl Harbor, but not the physical and emotional scars of the explosions.

6. Will your book or story be self-published or represented by an agency?

Both books are being published by Harlequin’s Heartsong Presents.

7. How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

I don’t even remember. It wasn’t too long, but the editing took forever.

8. What else about the book or story might pique the reader’s interest?

It’s followed by Always, Abby. The story of Barbara’s little sister, and Jackson’s brother Will. When Will returns home from Germany, he brings with him an orphan from the concentration camp he helped to liberate. His girlfriend, Jeannine, isn’t all that excited about becoming a ready-made mom, but Barbara’s younger sister Abby, visiting from Indiana, is drawn to both Will and Hank. Again the families are drawn together and dealing with the repercussions of WWII…as well as love!

And if you leave the 12th comment, I’ll pre-order the Kindle edition of With Eyes of Love (won’t miss a chance to self-promote—shameful, shameful)

I’d encourage everyone to read up on WWII. It helps us to remember not to let history repeat itself! Read on…read on…

  7. Love the photo - it says so much about the WWII era. What amazes me is the endless novel fodder that comes out of the forties' true stories--

I'm excited to read these books!

  12. They sound like excellent stories, Linda. BTW: No WW II research is complete without reading "A Man Called Intrepid." That's the way wars have to be fought if you're going to win.
