Maybe you’d like to hear it from Jack Briggs himself:
Interview
So, Jack. I’m guessing this isn’t your first interview, but we haven’t seen your face on the cover of Sport’s Illustrated this year.
(Laughing) I’ve been keeping a low profile since my retirement. This is my first interview in about a year.
After a stellar NFL career as one of the league’s all-time hardest hitting linebackers, you’re in line for a spot in the NFL hall of fame. How’s the injury?
The knee? It’s as good as it’s gonna get, so the doctors tell me. If it weren’t for the knee injury, I’d still be playing.
Fans would love to see you on the field again. How’s retirement treating you?
Retirement? My body knows I’ve retired, but I’m not sure my heart’s got the message.
So you miss the game then?
Like holding my breath underwater. Football was breathing to me. I gave up everything for the game.
Your female fans haven’t cooled off since your retirement. We were keeping women out of the green room this morning. They’re still fond of the “Gentleman Linebacker.” Now that you’ve moved on from the league, will you have time for a love life?
(laughing) Love life? I’m not sure there is life at all after football.
So, if a relationship isn’t in your future, what’s ahead for Jack Briggs?
Your guess is as good as mine. I’m living in Loveland, Colorado now. Great views. Amazing community. Who knows? Maybe I’ll buy a car dealership. (winks)
(Laughing) I think we’ll hear more about #44 in the near future. With a face like yours, I’m sure the TV offers will be pouring in. Do you see a career in commentating?
Maybe. Anything that keeps me in the game. Football is in my blood.
